New Partners for Steelbro

Friday, March 27th, 2015

Further to the news of Howard Porter’s recent acquisition of the Steelbro global side lifter business,  Steelbro is pleased to announce that Howard Porter will commence manufacturing trailers for Steelbro sidelifters in the Australian market.   The trailers will be manufactured to Steelbro specifications and to the high quality standards expected by customers of this brand.  This development will be supported by Steelbro’s experienced engineers along with the Howard Porter design and production teams.  The change to Howard Porter trailer manufacture means that all elements are now produced “in house” ensuring better control of quality and lead times for our customers.

Howard Porter will undertake the complete assembly of sidelifters for WA customers out of its Perth manufacturing facility. For customers on the eastern seaboard Pacific Materials Handling (PMH) will provide assembly of the cranes and controls for Steelbro sidelifters.   In addition to assembly Pacific Materials handling will also undertake service and support from their facilities in NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Northern Territories.  This arrangement will ensure that customers have ready access to the extensive experience of PMH staff acquired under the purchase of Freightquip by PMH last year.

The aftermarket product support activities undertaken by PMH will be complemented by those already in place with Steelbro’s existing national network of service agents :

  • Transquip Services in South Australia,
  • WA Haulage Repairs in WA
  • Howard Porter in WA

Steelbro Sidelifters in Australia will continue to be sold by Steelbro’ Rodney Steel who will be supported by Roy Lombardi, Matt Lazzarich and Vled Pesich from Howard Porter.

A new life

Friday, March 27th, 2015

After going through a phase of reorganisation that saw the long-standing company being sold to Western Australian OEM Howard Porter, Steelbro says it is now well positioned to expand its market share on a global scale.

The Steelbro name is making headlines again, with WA-based trailer manufacturing company Howard Porter taking over the 137-year-old business. According to Alex Evans, Sales and Marketing Manager at Steelbro, the acquisition will strengthen the brand’s manufacturing capacity considerably and gives the company a strong platform for the future.
